Contract Opportunity for Faculty: ETS/College Board Seeks Content Experts

The enrollment decline and subsequent schedule management decisions have caused many Dallas College faculty to see a decrease to their extra service earnings.

DCCFA Secretary Jennifer Hudson-Allen suggests that Dallas College faculty might consider applying to perform a variety of tasks, on a contract basis, for the Educational Testing Service/College Board.

According to Dr. Hudson-Allen, “There is no conflict of interest with our current position as faculty, and the work is all remote. I have graded AP US History exams for a long time, and really enjoy the responses and learning about the questions given. I can say it has improved my own teaching to see what is expected in AP classes.”

The announcement from ETS follows:

Dear Current or Former AP Reader:

Educational Testing Service (ETS) is urgently seeking graduate students, teachers, professors, and other experts to find, write, or review content for a wide variety of Advanced Placement® (AP®) subject tests.

Content Specialists are needed for these AP subjects: Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, Environmental Science, European History, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Physics (including Electricity, Magnetism, & Mechanics), Political Science (U.S. Government & Politics, Comparative Government & Politics), Statistics, U.S. History, and World History.

Assignments may consist of finding appropriate published sources to include on a test, writing test content aligned to specific subject-area standards, or reviewing and revising test content. The work requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and receptiveness to constructive feedback. Content Specialists work both independently and as part of a team, and all work is done remotely/virtually.

Freelance Content Specialists will begin work in December by completing a series of workshop activities. These activities include watching on-demand videos, reviewing content specifications and acceptance criteria, and attending a live evening webinar. Assignments will be submitted on a regular basis between December and early March, with the possibility for continued work later in 2021. If interested in freelance work, please complete the following steps by end of day Friday, December 11, 2020:
