Dallas College Board of Trustees Votes June 1 to Name Next Chancellor; Graduation Speaker Announced

At the June 1 regular business meeting of the Dallas College Board of Trustees, the Board voted unanimously to name Dr. Justin Lonon as the "sole finalist" to succeed Dr. May as Chancellor.

Dr. May is expected to remain in the role through August 2022.

Dr. Lonon most recently has been serving Dallas College as executive vice chancellor and previously served in numerous other roles, including as interim president of Brookhaven College.

During the meeting, Dr. May also announced that First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will be the speaker at this month's Dallas College graduation. It was not reported if Dr. Biden would speak virtually or in person.

Faculty Council Elects Officers and Committee Reps for 2021-2022

The DCCFA Faculty Council for 2021-2022 consists of:

Brookhaven Campus: Jennifer Hudson-Allen (elected 2020)

Cedar Valley Campus: Tommy Thompson (re-elected 2021)

Eastfield Campus: Matt Hinckley (elected 2020)

El Centro Campus: Wade Hyde (re-elected 2021)

Mountain View Campus: Ryan Pettengill (elected 2020)

North Lake Campus: Keith Baker (re-elected 2021)

Richland Campus: Rolanda Randle (elected to fill unexpired term 2021)

 

The Faculty Council met at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, to elect officers of the DCCFA for the 2021-2022 Council year. The results are as follows:

President: Ryan Pettengill

Vice President: Tommy Thompson

Secretary: Jennifer Hudson-Allen

Treasurer: Keith Baker

 

The Council also elected chairs of its seven standing committees, as follows:

Budget and Finance: Keith Baker

Communications: Jennifer Hudson-Allen

Convention Planning: Wade Hyde

Instructional Goals and Academic Freedom: Rolanda Randle

Membership: Tommy Thompson

Political Information: Matt Hinckley

Welfare and Benefits: Ryan Pettengill

 

Terms of office for all officer and committee chair positions are June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022.
