Conflict of Commitment Form Update

The DCFA continues to work for you throughout the summer. Yesterday, the seven campus FA presidents responded quickly to the distribution of Conflict of Commitment forms that were inconsistent with Board policy. The Interim Vice Chancellor of Operations issued two corrections today: one at 10:21am and a follow-up at 1:22pm. While we have answers to many of our questions, we are awaiting answers to others.

  • What if I signed it already?
    • HR has been directed to "remove and destroy" any COCs from your faculty files.
  • How can I sign the other two documents if they are packaged in Adobe Acrobat Sign with the rescinded COC?
    • HR will issue new COI and Payroll Election documents to sign.
  • What if I signed a COC weeks ago with a one-year contract before yesterday?
    • As far as we can tell, yours will be removed and destroyed along with any other previously signed COC forms. We will get an official answer to that by next week.
  • How did this happen in the first place?
    • This is the biggest question that the FA Council is looking into. We will communicate the answer once we find out. Given that the administration worked rather quickly to respond to the FA Council's concerns about this, we want to give an opportunity to investigate and then work with them to come up with a forward-thinking solution that could prevent this in the future.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact your campus FA president.
