Bursar Job Opening
The Dallas Community College
Faculty Association (DCCFA) is seeking a candidate to assume the role of
Bursar. This position works under the
supervision of the DCCFA Treasurer.
To avoid a conflict of interest
in fact or appearance, the Bursar should not be:
· a member of the Council or a
Campus Faculty Association Officer, or
· in a romantic relationship with
or related by blood or marriage to a Council member or Campus Faculty Association
Officer.
Responsibilities
for Bursar
- Maintain a record of financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for the DCCFA Operating and Legal bank accounts as well as the campus bank accounts in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
- Obtain support for campus level transactions on a regular basis
- Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on a regular basis
- Process expense reports and pay invoices
- Monitor any variances from the projected budget
- Compile bank balances, investment status, profit and loss, and balance sheet reports monthly to provide to the Treasurer
- Complete year-end entries as of May 31 to prepare the financials for review by the Council
- Coordinate with the tax accountant and Treasurer on the annual Form 990 filing due October 15 each year
- Interpret and apply relevant policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 3-5 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
- Knowledge of accounting procedures and internal controls best practices
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant policies, rules, and regulations, including but not limited to IRS regulations and filing deadlines, Texas Business Organizations Code, DCCFA Constitution and Bylaws, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient skills in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must pass a criminal background check
Qualifications
for Bursar
- Bachelor's
degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
